Latest Updates from Our Project:

Happy Holidays!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Dec 16, 2021 at 03:54:50 PM

Hello again -

Its been a busy Fall and looks to be an even busier Winter! We have made good progress both in terms of art and writing for the Bestiary, and remain on track for our original deliver date. While supply chain issues remain, my hope is that we will be at the printer at our planned time and that they are able to deliver on a reasonable timeline. At the moment no reason to expect delays, but we will keep you updated! Now on to the fun stuff!

Progress Update:

Over 50% of the leshies now have completed or sketched artwork, up from 33% in the last update. For an exact count, we have completed art for 31/66 leshies, with 3 more in the sketching phase. The majority of the remaining art are for the Design Tier and Epic Tier creatures, and overall we are progressing at our planned pace. On the writing side, stat blocks are ~80% written, with most of the remaining blocks again being the Design Tier and Elite Tier leshies. Of course I can't help myself so these are always being tweaked a bit. Formatting is the final step (before proofreading, editing, submitting to the printer, getting proofs from the printer.... ok there are a lot of steps left) but we now have a standard stat block template ready in Affinity Publisher, which makes the formatting much quicker. We plan to have full pages ready for the majority of leshies early in the new year.

New Art!

Sita has been churning out new art, with a small selection available below. As always, you can find more art, work-in-progress images and even vote on potential designs in our discord or on twitter.

Juniper Leshy, complete with barrel of gin
Aloe Leshy, with biting arms and soothing ointment
Strawberry Leshy, in pot and adorable

As always thank you all for the support, and I hope to have more to share with you soon!

Happy Halloween!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Oct 26, 2021 at 01:12:44 PM

A quick and hopefully fun update for the holiday, we wanted to share some Halloween treats in the form of new artwork! First off, we have the spooky Witch Hazel leshy, complete with cat familiar:

Slightly updated since the Hijinks preview

We also have a semi-finalized page for the Ghost Pepper Leshy:

Low-res sample page formatted for PF2e

If you have any feedback on the formatting (and if we haven't already talked about it in Discord!) please feel free to leave a comment or message me. The stat block is formatted a little different for PF2e than a Paizo product would be, but hopefully in a way that makes information more clear and easier to find. Samples of the 5e format will be coming soon, and will likely be similar to a standard 5e stat block, but will be looking for feedback then as well!

Finally, just in time for the Guns and Gears release, an adorable Tumbleweed Leshy with and without facial hair:

(non-eyebrow version will be used in the book)

This mustachioed little guy has also inspired another Halloween treat, a set of images so that you can give your own characters a fun Halloween costume:

full facial hair
eyebrows only
mustache only

Turn any leshy (or anything really) into a grumpy cowboy with a few simple images. If you do please feel free to share and tag us! That is all for now, enjoy the holiday and stay safe!

Mid-October Update: Supply Chain Disruptions, Redbubble store, more art!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at 10:25:28 AM

Hello!

It has been about a month since our last update, and we have a small amount of news to share and discuss. First off, many of you may have the article from Kickstarter regarding recent supply chain issues (if not you can read it here). The short version is that there is a global disruption to shipping and other supply chain issues, resulting in many projects with delayed fulfillment. Currently, we do not anticipate any delays or issues with our fulfillment. However, this is obviously a fluid situation and we will keep you informed if any issues do arise. We thank you in advance for being understanding during this potential disruption.

In happier news, since we currently are not experiencing any delays we are on track for our original timeline of delivery in June 2022. To that end, Sita has completed ~33% of the Leshy art already, about 6 weeks ahead of schedule. We will continue to share art updates as they come in (while keeping a few secret until release). Speaking of...

Onion Leshy sketch
Cork Leshy sketches

I also wanted to share that if you are desperate for more leshy goodness in your life, Sita has uploaded a selection of artwork to her redbubble store, including t-shirts and a coffee leshy mug! There will likely be more added overtime so keep checking it out!

Other updates:

The VOD for Hijinks Understories: A Leshy Adventure is available on both Twitch and Youtube.

Our discord channel remains the best place for more frequent updates and discussion of the book.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED YOUR BACKERKIT SURVEY, PLEASE DO SO.

That is all for now. Until next time, take care and stay safe!

Quick update post GenCon/Pathfinder Infinite announcment
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 21, 2021 at 09:15:29 AM

Hello!

I've just made it home from GenCon, which was amazing, and have a couple of quick updates. First, if you didn't catch the amazing Leshy adventure stream by Hijinks, the VOD is currently available on the official Paizo Twitch account (direct link). No idea how long the video will remain available there, so be sure to check it out! Thanks again to Hijinks for showcasing some of our art and creatures for the stream, it was amazing to watch. And I know everyone keeps saying it but the set was spectacular.

Next, many of you have probably seen the announcement from Paizo regarding Pathfinder Infinite. While I am very excited to use Pathfinder Infinite for future projects, The Botanical Bestiary will not be published as part of this project, or at least there are currently no plans to do so. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the biggest being there is no need. Since the books is written with both 5e and Pathfinder 2e in mind I avoided making setting specific references, which is the main benefit Infinite provides. But future projects may take advantage of Infinite and DMsGuild for distribution.

That is about it for now! Work continues on the book itself, though currently no major updates to report. As always, teasers of art and small updates are available on my twitter and the book discord. Take care!

Two months later
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 21, 2021 at 03:38:53 AM

Hello everyone!

Well we are nearly two months post-campaign, so it is time for another update. I'm planning on sending updates every month now, but if you would like more frequent updates head on over to our discord or my twitter page (@TTRPGHomebrew) for more postings and discussion. And as always, happy to respond to questions or messages on Kickstarter as well. Now on to the update!

New art!

Sita has been hard at work on a ton of new art, here is a small selection:

Collaborations

We have also been sharing our leshy with some other great community creators. If you are interested in using or previewing the leshy for any similar projects, feel free to reach out!

First up, Beastfinder wrote up a series of plot hooks and stories to fit the leshy into your campaign, and were kind enough to let me contribute an opening! If you are wondering how to use these adorable guys, look no further!

In addition, Hijinks, a Pathfinder actual play, will be running a new adventure called Understories: A Leshy Adventure at GenCon Online on the official Paizo twitch channel! Be sure to check it out to see a sneak peak of some leshy in action, both as characters and creatures!

BackerKit numbers and Preorder store

All but 18 backers have completed to their BackerKit surveys; if you are one of those 18, please respond soon! For everyone else thank you for your responses!

The preorder store remains open, so feel free to pass the link around to any friends that may have missed the campaign. For those interested in the numbers, so far:

  • Thanks to the pre-order store we have broken the $14k mark and unlocked all of our stretch goals
  • We have sold 135 hardcover books, 90 softcover, and 385 PDFs
  • ~2/3 of sales are for Pathfinder 2e and 1/3 for 5e
  • 22% of backers decided to order even more from BackerKit, and as such there are several hundred stickers and bookmarks now in the works!

That is all for now, be sure to check in next month for another update, likely after I return from GenCon (and if you are attending GenCon this year, feel free to say hi!).  As always, thank you for the support and generosity, I think it is going to pay off nicely.
